Grave Danger!!
After a restorative night's sleep, waking up to clear skies and cloudless peaks is truly special. And what a poignant quest for my morning stroll – seeking out the grave of Gelert in Beddgelert. It's a powerful story of loyalty, misunderstanding, and tragedy.
What a beautiful way to begin the day!

Bacon again!
And honestly, after my morning quest, it was exactly what I needed. Back at Black Betty, once last night's dinner dishes were squared away, I fired up the pan for a classic breakfast: crispy bacon and eggs. It went down an absolute treat, perfectly washed down with that glorious second cup of the strong stuff.
Now, with a belly full and content, it's time for some serious R&R. I'm packing a bag and heading straight for Llyn Dinas lake. The plan? To simply laze in this glorious, sweltering sun with a good book, plenty of water, and an array of snacks. And of course, the swimming shorts are definitely coming along, just in case that crystal-clear lake calls for a refreshing cool-down!
Llyn Dinas: Where Serenity Meets the Wild
This afternoon was pure magic. A gentle thirty-minute amble led me to the hidden gem of Llyn Dinas, a lake so pristine its waters sparkle, nourished by a symphony of streams whispering down the surrounding peaks.
I claimed a quiet slice of paradise, armed with a good book and a bottle of water, ready to unwind. But the relentless sun soon had me yearning for more than just shade.
Taking the plunge was an entirely new adventure. Imagine hundreds of minnows, a living carpet, swirling around your ankles as you step into water that's not just cold, but alive. It literally stole my breath away, a thrilling shock, as I slowly ventured further, surrendering to the embrace of the lake.
Just fifteen minutes in its icy grip was enough to banish the heat. The next hour melted away in serene contemplation by the shore, watching the delicate dance of electric blue damselflies – tiny jewels against the green.
Shadows, Fajitas, and Snowdon's Call
Tonight, I fueled up with fantastic chicken BBQ fajitas. Now, I'm finding sweet relief from the blazing afternoon sun by settling into the cool shadow cast by Black Betty. This evening will be all about unwinding and a leisurely pack-up of the van. Tomorrow, I'm up early and ready to conquer my biggest feat of the week: Snowdon!!
